The literal meaning of ‘Kumari’ is ‘Virgin’. But, in context to Kumari Goddess, she is a virgin and the one who has not experienced menarche. Kumari and menarche are analogous to each other. The rich culture of Nepal blends well with diversified languages, ethnic groups, nature, and is home to many Gods and Goddesses. That’s why Nepal is Shangri-la. And, the only country in the world where a notion of amalgamation between Hinduism and Buddhism remains alive in a form of Living Goddess Kumārī.
Jaya Prakash Malla, the last Malla king of Kathmandu had a dream one night. In the dream goddess, Taleju told him she would never return ever again. So, Taleju asked him to search for a virgin girl from a Newari community. and, goddess Teleju would resist within that virgin girl as an incarnation in a form of Living Goddess Kumārī.
